Sharron Kay Bueno

May 15, 1944July 20, 2020

Sharron Kay Mitchell Bueno was born May 15, 1944 to Roy and Lucille Mitchell in Plainview, Texas. Sharron took her final rest on Monday July 20, 2020 at the age of 76 in her home in Amarillo with her daughter Jennifer at her side.

Sharron dedicated her life to helping others, working for over forty years as a nurse at Amarillo’s VA hospital. In the later years of her career Sharron specialized as a nurse practitioner with a focus in diabetes care. In this capacity she worked extensively to raise awareness of juvenile diabetes and organize fundraisers for the cause. Through all her tireless work Sharron’s most important patients were her daughters, who she went out of her way to provide for and make smile. Sharron loved her family dearly and selflessly, often going out of her way to tell them how truly special they were to her. The memory of Sharron’s quick wit accompanied by her bubbly laughter still brings smiles to our faces as we remember this treasured woman who consistently went out of her way to spread cheer and warmth. Whenever Sharron encountered a setback her determination and positive spirit kept her moving forward, focusing instead on what a wonderful world she considered it to be.

Sharron was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lucille Mitchell, her brother Gary Mitchell, and her husband Fernando Bueno. Sharron is survived by her daughters Jennifer Bueno Richards and husband Chris of Covington, Washington and Julie Bueno of San Francisco; grandchildren Aiden and Adalyn Bueno Richards; sisters, Darlena Calder and husband J.R. of Ponder, Sandra Slattery of Amarillo, and Kimberly Sanchez of Austin and many adoring nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing for Sharron on Friday July 24th, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon on Bell Street in Amarillo, Texas. A memorial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family humbly requests a donation in Sharron’s name to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org

Sharron was just one of my older cousins who I looked up too. I would spend a week during the summer with them and was always amazed at all of the activities that went on. Sharron was always sweet to me. She loved my mother and daddy and she & my sister, Pauline, were very close.
Sending prayers to her girls and family for peace and comfort that only God can give.
Love, Jonnie Beth, Joe and families

Sending love to the family. Sharron helped many people, and the stories we have heard about her, and the care she gave others, seem she may have already been an angel. Sharron, devoted her life to others. It makes her life live on even longer. That grace and love transcends. Her daughters Jennifer and Julie, are proof of that. Again, many condolences and prayers.
Love, Amy & Dumitru
