Tommy Ray Kessler, 64 of Amarillo passed away February 17, 2014. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Northside United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Rodger Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Tommy was born January 22, 1950 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Lloyd and Mildred Kessler. He was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Palo Duro High School. Tommy served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and fought in Viet Nam. He was injured and sent home in 1969 and then was honorably discharged in 1971. Tommy married the love of his life, Bettye Hathcock, on January 31, 1970 here in Amarillo. He worked at Glover Packing for 5 ½ years before working at ASARCO and retiring after 25 ½ years of service. Tommy loved the outdoors especially camping, hunting and fishing, fishing being his favorite past time. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Kessler and a sister, Gayle Waggoner. Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Bettye Kessler; daughters, Kimberly Selman and husband Irby, Tammie Kessler and Brittany Kessler all of Amarillo; brother, Billy Kessler of Amarillo; sisters, Judy Simmons, Carol Linton and Linda Warren all of Amarillo; granddaughters, Kaylei and Addisyn Selman of Amarillo and grandson, Kyle Fortenberry of Hereford.
