May 22, 1933March 20, 2014

Donald Elwin Wahl, 80, of Ankeny, passed away at home on Thursday, March 20, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Donald grew up in Wellman, Iowa. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953, serving his country during the Korean War. He earned his Doctorate of Dentistry degree from the University of Iowa in 1963 and was united in marriage to the love of his life, Deanna Mace. The couple owned and operated a dental practice in Urbandale until their retirement.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 50 years, Deanna, who passed away in October 2013.

As a show of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dr. Wahl was my dentist. Dr. Wahl and Deanna made it easier to go to the dentist. They were both very kind, thoughtful and caring. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Dr. Wahl was our dentist for many years and he and Deanna made going to the dentist something to look forward to rather than dreaded. Our sympathy to the family.

Deanna & Don cats were clients of ours for years. We were blessed to get to know them. They are missed!

Dr Wahl was my dentist for many years. I always enjoyed my visits with he and Deanna. They were such a joy to be around. I was sorry when they retired. She & I were both cat lovers and would always discuss our cats. My sympathies go out to the family. So sad to lose Dr Wahl so soon after losing Deanna.
