Ron and I always visited them in their Schaller--or Des Moines-homes. Many fond memories of cousins reunions! May her soul-and Wayne's-rest in peace.

Milly (we called her Ahnie) was a very special cousin, along with her brother, Herb. We were always guaranteed plenty of shenanigans when those 2 were present at the Schroeppel reunions. Ahnie and Wayne (oh, how we love him, too!) always opened their home to visitors from Oshkosh, including the year our son studied at Drake. Ahnie was like a young second mom to us, spending time in our home when we were little. A favorite memory is watching the circus being set up near our home. We couldn’t afford tickets, but Ahnie lifted the edge of the huge tent so we could watch the shows. There was laughter and silliness whenever we were with our sweet Ahnie! I think of her every day, and thank God that she was a major part of my life. We send our love to Wayne and the family.

Millie was one in a million! I met her when we moved to Schaller, Iowa in 1968. She was an outstanding Girl Scout leader—-always coming up with unique ideas to keep the girls interested and challenged. She originated The Iowa Heritage Trek which took the girls from The Missouri to the Mississippi to learn about the history of their wonderful state. She also started the local women’s club called the Noname Club that supported numerous community activities including the building of the swimming pool. Before they moved to West DesMoines we honored her with biographical skit and named her “Mrs. Schaller “. She made our world a better, happier place and she will be sorely missed!
