Wendell Dale Reece

Wendell “Dale” Reece passed away on April 27, 2018 at the age of 90. Born on Nov. 5, 1927 to Lewis Harland and Fern Reece in Earlton, KS. He graduated from Kansas State with a BA in Agri Engineering in 1952. He married Ky Adele Springer on May 25, 1952. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers, Officer: 1st LT. from 1952-1956. Most of that service was served in England which Ky was accompanied him to and they started their family there.

They moved to Ankeny, IA in 1956 where Dale worked for Deere & Company as a project engineer until 1987. They raised and are survived by 3 children, Ronald (Joan), Daniel (Becky), and Connie Lundberg (Jerry). Dale enjoyed fishing in Minn., gardening and square dancing. He was a social butterfly, enjoyed people, and was actively involved in the Ankeny First United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ky and brother Floyd Reece. He is survived by a brother, Kent Reece, in Waterloo, IA.

A “Celebration of Life” for Dale will be held on Sat. May 12th at Ankeny First United Methodist Church-Uptown at 11 AM with a BBQ luncheon to follow. Black attire is not a requirement for this event. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ankeny First United Methodist Church.

This is Uncle Dale, Aunt Ky, Dad (Floyd), Michelle, Mom (Charldene), Aunt Wanda, Uncle Kent, Amy, and Lauren all settling in for one of Uncle Dale’s great slide shows at a 1990 family reunion at my house in Mobile, AL. We will miss him so much- he was a wonderful uncle!
