Thomas Wilmott Allen, 65, of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away at his home on October 8th in the care of his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Tom was born to the late Bill and Alice Allen on August 25, 1946 in Jackson, MI. Tom enjoyed a successful career as an insurance agent with Finn’s Insurance Agency in Ann Arbor. Prior to this, he and Cheryl were proprietors of the Liberty Music Shop, where he shared his passion for music with many. In addition, Tom spent over 30 years at the University of Michigan Hospital serving as a pastoral care giver. He was devout Catholic and shared his faith and love for his family through his service to others and as a volunteer for Marriage Encounter. Tom had a love for golf and serving others and used these gifts as the golf coach at Father Gabriel Richard High School for over 10 years. He was honored in 2011 by being inducted into the Father Gabriel Richard Hall of Fame as well as the Diocese of Lansing Catholic League Coaches Hall of Fame. Tom is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his sister, Mary Jo Keffer of Rockford, IL; his sons, Patrick, Jason, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Anna; and his six grandchildren, Joseph, Noah, Andrew, Allison, Carson, and Connor. I had no idea that Tom had passed away until this morning. He was a wonderful individual and made a real contribution to this community. I will treasure my days with him at Liberty Music Shop.

Dear Cheryl,

Although we didn't have the pleasure of knowing you socially we always enjoyed seeing you and Tom in church over the years especially at U of M Hospital. Tom always was so warm and kind to our children and we always appreciated his giving spirit. God bless Tom and all of your family.

Dear Cheryl, I enjoyed so much when you and Tom served as Eucharistic Ministers at St. Thomas. Your love for our Lord and for each other radiated through your beautiful faces. Tom was always so pleasant when the three of us walked together to our cars after mass.

I am so happy that now he is in Heaven and from there he will watch over you and your sons and anyone of us who will ask him to advocate for us.
Rest in peace, Tom. You have earned your heavenly reward.
