Funeral service for Edna Ford Tate, 83 of Four Mile Community will be 2:00 pm, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Rev. Keith Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Tate died November 20, 2018 in Weaver.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynda Tate Harper, Glynda Tate Holden (Dennis), Wanda Tate and Bonnie Tate Michaelis (Patrick); her grandchildren, Becky Belyeu (Shane), Johnny Holden (Kristie), Eric Harper (Kristin), Amanda Harper, Molly Fallin, Hannah Fallin, Madeline Michaelis and Madison Michaelis; her great-grandchildren, Dalton Belyeu, Brandon Belyeu, Jonathon Crocker, Justin Crocker and Tucker Harper; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harold “Hal” Tate; grandson, Michael Anthony “Tony” Gannon, Jr.; her parents, Gertrude and Robbie Ford; brothers, Milton Ford and Lenoard Ford and her sister, Margie Dothard.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Johnny, Eric, Shane, Dalton, Brandon, Jonathon and Justin. Honorary Pallbearer is her late grandson, Tony Gannon, Jr.
Edna was born in Douglasville, Georgia on January 19, 1935. As a young lady she attended JSU where she received a degree in social work. She worked 12+ years at the Department of Pension and Security. She went back to school and received her Masters Degree at 60 years of age. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, a member of Weaver Congregational Methodist Church and an active member of Al-anon of Piedmont.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be truly missed.
