Johnny Wayne Edwards

Funeral service for Johnny Wayne Edwards, 69, of Oxford, will be 3 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Rev. Jeff Duncan and Rev. Freddy Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 pm – 3 pm at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at UAB Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Gail Edwards, son, Heath Edwards (Krystee), daughter, Holly Butterworth (Shane), grandchildren, Hunter Butterworth, Pierce Edwards, Cooper Wallace Butterworth, Cayden Edwards and Courtney Butterworth, sisters-in-law, Sheila Guthrie (Owens) and Janet Dearman, nieces and nephews, Michelle Whitelaw (Robert), Jamie Guthrie (Alessandra), Nathan Dearman (Sintia) and Matthew Dearman, Aunts, Malene Roberts and Annette Acker, special family, Emmitt and Becky Shake, Justin Shake (Addie), Josh Shake (Kara), Jared Shake and Jacob Shake along with many cousins.

Mr. Edwards is preceded in death by parents, Dustin and Ruth Edwards.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Dearman, Nathan Dearman, Owens Guthrie, Robert Whitelaw, Emmitt Shake and Jamie Guthrie.

Mr. Edwards worked for Anniston Army Depot and retired in 2007. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1966. Mr. Edwards was a faithful servant to many, but above all to God, his church and his family. He was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oxford. Mr. Edwards was an avid outdoorsman, deer hunter, and Auburn fan.
