Private service limited to immediate family will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Anniston, Friday, January 22, 2021, jointly officiated by Father John McDonald and Dr. Mike Holcomb followed by graveside service at Forest Lawn Gardens. Celebration of Life will be held at a future date post Covid.
Buddy died on January 16, 2021, he was 81 years old.
He is survived by his wife Ursula Dudek Character; daughters Teresa “Teri” NeSmith (Donnie) and Debra Johnson (Joey); grandchildren Amanda Bailey, Steven Phillips and Heather Shatus; 9 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parent Clifford and Essie Character; his wife Patricia (Griffin) Character; brothers, Sonny C. Character and Wallace “Jackie” Character
He is retired from the Anniston Fire Department after serving for 22 year and 18 years with J Supply Company.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Loved traveling to new places, visiting family and friends near and far, cruising, Alabama football – “Roll Tide”, along with breeding and showing dogs. He was a licensed American Kennel Club judge for 27 year.
Parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a Member of Westwood Baptist Church.
Member of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association for 43 years. Member and past President of the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Birmingham.
