Saks – A visitation for Mr. Merton T. “Tom” Akers Jr., 84, of Saks will be Monday, May 7, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mr. Akers passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at RMC in Anniston. Mr. Akers is survived by his wife, Patricia F. Akers; daughters, Melanie O’Hern and Gail Akers; sons, David Akers, Eddie (Wendy) Akers, Jerry (Autumn) Akers; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren Mr. Akers was a native of Missouri but had lived in Calhoun Co. for the past 43 years, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was awarded the Victory Ribbon. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Akers; and his parents Merton T. Akers Sr. and Helen J Akers.
