Lorraine N. Vana, 90 of Lake Barrington and Naples, FL, formerly of Arlington Heights was born August 3, 1927 to Hjalmar and Margaret Nelson and passed away peacefully January 13, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Edward M. Vana, daughters Sharon Altrogge, DVM of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Sandy (David) Vana-Miller of Indian Hills, Colorado and son Rev. E. Scott (Sandra) Vana of Reynolds, Indiana; grandchildren Brian, Jennifer, Samantha and Sara and great-granchildren Ian, Norah, Lucy, Clara, Jackson and Hayden; brother Nels R. (Alice) Nelson of Glenview, cousin June (Howard) Nelson of Sister Bay, WI and fond aunt of many. Lorraine’s life and legacy are her three children, Sharon, Sandy and Scott. She had many friends and was preceded in entering heaven by one of her best, long-time friends Marilyn (Richard) Nachtsheim. Lorraine’s family would like to thank Dr. Homa, the Pathway nurses and aides and everyone at the Lutheran Home for their loving care of Lorraine. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 1:30 PM until the time of the funeral service at 3:30 PM at Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton Street, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Private family interment. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Lutheran Home.

Hi Ed,
As I mentioned to you on the phone we would have been at Lorraine's visitation if we weren't in Arizona. We were glad that we had a nice visit with Lorraine and you at the Lutheran Home before she left us. We viewed the photo gallery which brought back a lot of good memories of Lorraine. It was a first class photo gallery which didn't surprise us since it was done by the Vana's.
