Janet Lee Harris-Calvillo, 51, perished in her brave fight against ALS in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, December 3rd. Even after a difficult battle, in one of her last acts on this earth, Janet selflessly donated her organs so that others could experience new life.
Janet was born in Denver, Colorado on August 13, 1971 and attended Bear Creek High School in Littleton, Colorado. At the age of 18, Janet entered the United States Army, serving her country for the next twelve years. As a Sergeant, she twice completed overseas tours in Korea, serving as both an accounting specialist and second-string sharpshooter.
Janet was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and of her favorite musician Prince. She achieved a lifelong dream of visiting Paisley Park in her many travels over the years, often times of which were to see the Dallas Cowboys play. Her greatest accomplishments include her family and her work contributions at Texas Instruments, Krypton Solutions, and PricewaterhouseCoopers over the last twenty years. At the time of her death, she was working to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, a longtime goal of hers. Janet participated religiously in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and adored every dog she encountered.
Janet is survived by her husband Jesse Calvillo Jr., Ashley Newsome, Jesse “J.R.” Calvillo (Andi), her mother Carol Cunningham, her sister Sheila Christine Tobuchi, her brother Edward Dean Rothermel (Nicole), and an extended family of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by father Fred Rothermel, grandmother Bertha Ruth Allison, grandfather Corwin Crisman, grandmother Elise Heiser, grandfather Fred Rothermel, and her step-father Michael T. Cunningham, whom she loved greatly.
Janet will be remembered for her sweet nature, her kindness, her love for family and her beloved dogs, and lastly her affinity for beers after work with her friends at Bobby V’s, Grease Monkey, and Joe T. Garcia’s.
