Received his formal education from Little River County Training School in Ashdown, AR. Attended Vallejo Junior College.
He relocated to Dallas, TX in 1965, where he met his beloved Melva Lewis on November 24, 1965 and they married January 23, 1966.
Marshell was employed by Affiliated Foods, until they closed, for 27 years. He worked for Freedom Dealership and Graff Chevrolet, upon retirement in 2008, he worked part-time for Avis Budget.
He gave his life to the Lord in his early childhood, were he was a member of Craig Chapel AME, in Ashdown, AR. As an adult he was baptized under the late Rev. A. L. Bowman at Greater S. Central Baptist Church in Dallas, TX. He transferred his membership on August 31, 1986, to Mount Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor N. L. Robinson.
He was a faithful member until his death.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar O. Neal; mother, Lillie Mae Neal; brother, Charles (Chuck) Neal; Sister Virginia Neal Vaughn; stepmother, Avery B. Neal and a brother, Clyde S. Neal.
Marshell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Melva Neal; Sisters, Helen Sue Ary, Thelma (Thomas) King from Reno, NV; Cathy (Lonnie) Neal Morris from Nashville, AR; Brothers, Oscar (Sharon) O. Neal, Jr., from Grand Prairie, TX; Mayon (Linda) B. Neal from Dayton, OH; Donald (Jennifer) R. Neal from Desoto, TX; Brother in laws, Genon Lewis, Jr., Rev, Horace Ray Lewis, and Anthony W. Lewis, all from Shreveport, LA; Sister in laws, Margarette Russell-Frank from Houston, TX; Regina Lewis from Shreveport, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
