Robert was born in Waxahachie, Texas on July 19, 1944, to J.H. Lemmon and Erma Hamm Lemmon. He was very patriotic and at the age of 21, he joined the Air Force. Robert was very proud of the time he served the country he loved so much. Everyone that knew him knows that his first love was airplanes and he had the chance to work with them during his time in the Air Force.
A quiet person, Robert enjoyed spending time in the countryside and the outdoors. One of his favorite activity was hunting even though the only thing he got out of it were squirrels and skunks. Over the years, he became a bit more tender hearted and hunting became a thing of the past. He loved spending time with his family, including his cats Stretch, Sadie, and Libby, and friends.
Robert was married to Cecile Shugart for 53 years and together they raised two children and were blessed with three grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife Cecile, his son Robert A. Lemmon II, his daughter Jennifer Robertson and son-in-law Blake Robertson, his grandchildren Dean Robertson, Alex Robertson, and Gabby Breitenbucher who lives in Virginia with her mother Angie, and other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst with a committal service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert’s name to St. Philip Presbyterian Church for Kay Lynn’s Pantry, Community Hospice of Texas, and James L. West Alzheimer’s Center.
