Delores Tibbs West, 73, of Ashland, known as Del by all her family and friends, passed away to be with Jesus on October 21, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Tibbs and mother, Josephine Tibbs. She is survived by her husband, William West; daughter, Stephanie Smart and son-in-law, Ryland Smart; granddaughters, Courtney and Tiffany Smart; brothers-in-law, Carter (Gwen) and Steve (Linda) Lippy; life long friend since the 4th grade, Betty Proffitt and long time family friend, Jane Brekke. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 -8:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 2:00pm. A graveside ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 am in Riverview Cemetery, 1401 S. Randolph Street, Richmond, VA 23220. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090.
