March 29, 2021, Dr. Jackson Lance Partin (94) left for Heaven with his Lord and friend, Jesus.
Born, May 6, 1926 in Corbin, Kentucky to Katie Chloe Lance and William Jackson Partin, the Depression forcing them to homestead in an abandoned shack in Appalachia. At 18, he joined the Marines, 6th Marine Division. Badly wounded in Okinawa, Jack saw Jesus standing behind him. Then, while Sgt of the Guard for the Truman White House, he met the love of his life, Amie Lorraine Johnson, marrying a year later.
With his brilliant mind, he excelled at Cumberland Collage and then Whitman College in Washington, receiving his BA/MA and becoming a teacher. A 30- year education career culminated in a doctorate from USC and becoming Assistant Superintendent for Ventura Unified.
The 33 years after retiring were equally divided between their two farms-the organic strawberry farm on 25 acres in Watsonville with Lorraine’s continuously flowering gardens. There, they delighted in their sons/families including three young grandchildren. Then, after a brain attack, with the help of their two daughters, they created another beautiful flowering 7-acre farm with livestock in Atascadero.
Even in the most difficult circumstances, Jack’s expectation of God’s faithfulness to help, gave him overcoming resilience so with that irreplaceable smile and irresistible welcoming warmth, he could transfer God’s love to those around him. “This is the day the Lord has made for us, “he’d exclaim. “ Let’s go out and enjoy it!”
He is survived by his much loved wife, Lorraine, daughters, Cheryl and Melanie, Son, Randy ( Mary, Christopher, Jackson ), Son, Brad ( Jacqui and Elisa ) and ever loved Kentucky and Tennessee siblings/families.
All are welcome to attend his Home-going Celebration at 10:30 am, April 20, 2021, Atascadero Pine Mountain Cemetery.
