Janice Kilgore Peterson

Janice Kilgore Peterson passed away peacefully by her husband's side December 6, 2023. Funeral services will be Tuesday December 12, 2:00pm, with Visitation from 12:30-2:00 pm at Morgan Funeral Chapel. Pastor John Richey will officiate.

Janice was born the middle child of three girls. She attended college at Gadsden State Community College. She married her sweetheart and love of her life, Ray in 1962. Over the years, along with raising her boys, she worked various jobs and developed lifelong friendships from Buy Wise, Rainbow City Auction, Jester Door & Trim, and finally John Jones Elementary School, where she retired.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Jessie Mae Kilgore. Father and Mother in Law Oliver and Louise Peterson. Brother In Law Thomas (Pete) Peterson, Sister In Law Juanita Peterson, Brother and Sister In Law Jack and Rhena Peterson. Brother In Law Mark Ramsey, and Nephew Stephen Bachelor.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ray Peterson.

Children: Ray and Paula (Sonny and Sissy) Peterson,Todd and Dawn Peterson, Brian and Teresa Peterson.

Grandchildren: Savannaha Peterson, Audrae Peterson, Samantha and Brad

Self, Morgan Peterson, Lauren Peterson, Mason and Hope Gore.

Great-Grandchildren: Talulah Self and Dutton Gore

Sisters: Betty and David Bachelor and Donna and Dennis George, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Anita Hill. She is survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews. Special friends: The lunchroom ladies at John Jones Elementary School.

Pallbearers will be: Jerry Sparks, Larry Murray, Kenneth Payne, Sonny Paul, Robbie Deason, Dennis George.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Morgan Peterson, Mason Gore, and Moe Colvin.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Katie Darden for all of her kindness and help to our family, and also to the staff of Enhabit Hospice.
