OLGA (DEFAVERI/BORDIGIONI) GAMMON August 24, 1930 – October 4, 2012

Frank Sinatra's timeless ballad, "My Way" was how our beloved mother, grandmother and friend lived her life. Olga Lydia Gammon passed away peacefully among the love of her family on 10/4/2012 on a beautiful early fall day. She was born 8/24/1930 to Italian immigrants, Adolfo and Lucia DeFaveri in Detroit, Michigan, but soon moved to the Bronx and Queens, New York. She was always a New Yorker at heart and in attitude throughout her life even though she left the big apple in 1963. She later lived her life in Las Vegas, NV, Bullhead City, AZ, Reno, NV, Sonoma, CA and ended worldly journey in Auburn, California. Olga was ahead of her time in many ways, traveling the world, owning a successful business and providing for herself before it became culturally normal. She was a gifted cook especially with Northern Italian cuisine and made possibly the best pies the world has ever known. Olga had a great zest for life, a beautiful smile and an adventuresome spirit. Olga loved and embraced life and was a devoted mother and grandmother, her passing leaves a huge hole in all our hearts. She is survived by sons Ronald (Boulder City, NV), Thomas (Reno, NV and Meadow Vista, CA), Dean (Kenwood, CA), and the daughter she had but was legally her daughter in law, Janice. She had 5 beautiful grandchildren; Kimberly (San Francisco, CA), Christopher (Reno, NV), Michael (Burbank, CA), Jacob (Denver, CO), Anni (Kenwood, CA) plus one that's on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Vincenzo Bordigioni and Wayne Gammon, and her best friend and companion, her dog Lilly of 18 years. A viewing will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11am at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Road, Auburn, CA followed by a funeral mass at 12pm. Burial will take place at Palm Downtown Cemetery, 1325 N. Main Street, Las Vegas, NV at a later date. A celebration of life ceremony will be held from 2pm until 5pm at the home of Thomas and Janice Bordigioni, 1515 Wood Duck Ln, Meadow Vista, CA following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers please donate to catholic charities in her name. Please sign the online guestbook at

Olga was a member of our Sonoma "Village Vamps" Red Hat group and often was able to attend our functions. Having Olga as a "Vamp" member was an asset and she will be missed. Rest in Peace dear Olga.

Our sincere condolences to all of the Bordigioni family in the loss of your dear mother and grandmother. We were fortunate to have known her and her infectious smile and laugh. Loosing our mothers is never easy but know she is in a better place and is at peace.

Olga, dear great and good friend and neighbor, I hope you knew how very much I appreciated you. You taught me how to cook Italian (never as good as yours, but passable.) How to drink Gaupa and play penuchle. Above all you taught me how to be a mother and I hope a lady. Even now I miss those evenings sitting in the driveways and visiting. It was a simpler time, but ever so dear. God bless you and yours always. Kay Buscher Laub

When thinking of a future return to the USA we always too looked forward to seeing Olga again. The few times in previous years we had the pleasure of meeting with her are truly engraved in our minds. We met a warm, large-minded, impressive and admirable person with the "heart in the right spot" as we say here in our country. She became a tremendous, important part in our lives when she arranged our wedding celebrations in 2004 and made this important day a lifetime lasting milestone for us. She was a wonderful host to us. All this in gratefulness unforgotten.Ever since she became a part of our family too. Indeed, her spirit was remarkable and if only we could have caught a spark from that, life would have been a lot easier sometimes.
Yes, we are deeply sad to hear that dear Olga has gone.
Bye bye, Olga - we`ll meet again.....

Dear Tom, Janice and family,

Please accept our condolences on the passing of your Mum. Ryan, Justin, Dylan and I remember the good days when you all lived next door to us. Olga was always such a wise woman. Her 3 boys she loved so dearly and wished only the best for them. Having 3 boys of my own she passed on her wisdom to me and it has been an inspiration to me for years and still is today. May she rest in peace. Hugs to all of you. Remember you were all good sons to her and she was blessed with warmth, love and laughter of grandchildren. Love Louise
