

Jim was born on February 19, 1967, in Endicott, NY and later moved to St. Louis, MO and Naperville, IL before moving to Bartlesville, OK where he graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1985. He was very active in baseball, football and soccer throughout his life and was a member of the Oklahoma State University Football team, graduating in 1989 from the College of Business with a B.S. in Marketing. He started his career at IBM in Oklahoma City, later moving to Austin, TX where he retired from IBM in 2022 as a Worldwide Sales Executive. While in Austin, Jim was a member of the Town and Country Optimist Club, serving as President from 2016-2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Gottardi, and his father, P. James Gottardi. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, of Austin, TX, and his three children, Anna of Sunnyvale, CA, David of Austin, TX, and Claire of Troy, NY. The family would like to thank the ALS Association of Texas and New Century Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Jim during his more than five-year battle with ALS.
