Joyce Barrish passed away peacefully at her home in Cedar Park, Texas on April 7, 2018. She was born in Painesville, Ohio on May 26, 1930 to Lorna and Frederick Nighman. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked as a librarian at Huntington Elementary School in Painesville. In 1977 they moved to Houston, Texas where she worked at the Pepsi Bottling Company. She and her beloved husband, Ed, retired to Daytona Beach, FL in 1993 where they lived until they moved back to Texas in 2005 to be closer to family. Joyce loved people and was the “go to” person in her residential community. In 2015, she was nominated by her peers and represented her community at the National Senior Citizens’ Day Banquet. She created the resident directory; was an avid scrap booker; assembled music booklets for church; and made sure everything was setup for the weekly worship service.
Joyce is survived by her children; son Jim & wife Judy Barrish, daughter Donna Barrish and daughter Diane & husband Kevin Roeber; grandchildren; Shaun Roeber, Jessica Roeber Adams & husband Taylor, David Barrish and Daniel Barrish; great-grandchildren, Payton Adams and Perry Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward Barrish, her son Steve Barrish and her brother Don Nighman.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 23, at 10:00 am at The Isle at Cedar Ridge, 2200 S Lakeline Blvd, Cedar Park. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local animal rescue or the arthritis foundation in her name.
