Joyce is survived and missed by her son, Paul Findell, and granddaughter, Maggie Findell. Her daughter, Charlotte, and husband, Virgil, were predeceased, and it is our greatest hope that they find each other and will again be together. Joyce and Virgil were married in 1949. At the time of Virgil’s passing in 2020, they had been married for 71 years.
Joyce and her husband moved from the north woods of Idaho to Texas some twenty years ago. They wished to play an active role in their granddaughter’s life. Although they never really learned to like Texas, they lived within walking distance to the home of their son, his wife and granddaughter and were able to share dinners every weekend and enjoy holidays together. They immensely enjoyed watching their granddaughter grow into a compassionate and caring adult that has chosen a professional career in social work.
Joyce was an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church and was always thankful for the friends she made with fellow church members and clergy. They played an important role in providing her comfort and hope in her last few days.
Being a second-generation Swedish immigrant, Joyce took great pride in her Scandinavian ancestry. Some of her happiest days were undoubtably when touring Sweden and Norway with her husband and son.
Joyce was an incredibly strong person who loved her family and cherished her friends. Both Joyce and her husband, Virgil, were the embodiment of what is truly good in people. Her legacy will carry on, reminding us to cherish those around us and live a life full of meaningful acts of love and service to others.
Mom, Grandma, we will miss you.
