Melvin L. Euers, 84, passed on October 24, 2021 with his niece by his side, holding his hand. Melvin graduated from Buda High School and from an early age, he always loved the outdoors. He showed extraordinary wisdom beyond his years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Wolff Euers and Norman Otto Euers and great nephew, Jacob M. Euers. He is survived by his brother, Monroe H. Euers; niece, Rebecca Euers Fleming and husband James M. Fleming; nephew, James R. Euers; great niece, Callie M. Fleming; great nephews, Cordell M. Fleming and Jace M. Euers.
Melvin was a life long member of the American Legion and the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Melvin was honorably discharged from the United States Army, September 16th, 1976, Sergeant USAR. Melvin was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, August 18th, 1979, SMSGT. He was then transferred into the Retired Reserve of the United States Air Force on May, 4th, 1989, from Denver, Colorado thru Bergstrom AFB, Austin, TX.
Melvin worked for the Texas Highway Department for 32 years, retiring in Feb, 1989. He loved his friends in Red Rock, Lockhart and Rockne, participating in Chili Cook offs all over Texas. He was most proud of his group, "The Rambo group", winning first place at the Annual VFW Rockne 2527 Chili Cook.
The family would like to thank all who took the time to visit Melvin in the last few months. Melvin was special and will truly be missed by all. A special thank you, to his nephew, James who stayed with him and helped care for him the last five months.
A graveside service for Melvin will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Live Oak Cemetery, 10799 Twin Creek Rd, Manchaca, TX 78652.
