Dear Family and Friends, At Mom’s funeral I spoke about a friend of mine named Maureen. We have had many heart-to-heart talks. Such as when her Mom passed away and when my Dad passed away over six years ago. One thing Maureen said to me was that, while you are hurting now with the passing of your father, get ready because the passing of your mother will be another challenging and yet different experience. Maureen was so right! You see, it has taken until now, more than five months after her passing, for me to be able to write this good-bye to her. How I miss you Babs! Now, I can finally cry. Now, it has really, I mean really hit me. Mommie, you are gone. I have so, so much to thank you for; both you and Daddy. Thank you for coming to America and allowing me to be a citizen of the greatest nation in the history of the world. Thank you for teaching the importance of being a Roman Catholic. Thank you for helping me learn and love my Irish heritage. This love of our culture and time spent with Daddy introduced me to the pipe band music I love so much. You so inspired the importance of education that I became a college professor. And probably most important of all you accepted me for who I am and you loved my husband Joseph as a son! From being a counselor and now a funeral director, I am supposed to be the strong one to help others through rough times. Right now, I can’t be either of those professions. I have to cry. I miss you Mommie and I miss you Daddy very, very much. Rest in Peace. And until we meet again, may the Lord our God hold you both in the hollow of his hand.
