Fleurdeliz R Gallego

Fleurdeliz R. Gallego, age 79, of Bakersfield, California peacefully passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. Born on the 24th of May, 1938 in Manila, Philippines to Vicente and Antonia Rodriguez and married to Artemio S. Gallego.

During her younger years, she was so admired for her beauty and poise that she got serenaded so many times for every town she visited and even had a famous director offered her a leading role in the Philippine movies and would have represented the country in an international beauty pageant. Active then as the secretary in our homeowner’s association, she was part of the various projects like building the chapel and basketball court for our community.

A life well-celebrated, she was a loving mother to her children, Mary Geraldine G. Bones, Dr. Raymund R. Gallego, Mary Desiree G. Torres,RN, Marie Gayle dela Cruz, Dr. Nina Arteliz R. Gallego, Marie Artisha G. Olsen, RN and the late Joseph Rodriguez. Her mathematical brilliance mixed with her business skills and overflowing charms made her one successful woman in the livestock and furniture/ appliance business.

Her simple joys included exemplary cooking of Filipino cuisine for family and friends, devotion to Roman Catholic Church as she attended pilgrimage to the different cathedrals of the world , recited her daily rosary and novenas, contributing monthly to her favorite charitable institutions, watching her favorite Filipino telenovelas, caring for her rose garden, exploring beautiful places around the world and collecting lovely things from each place and Christmas was her most loved season of every year...

An epitome of classic beauty, of a conservative Filipina and of a devoted mother and wife, she will be forever engraved in our hearts and final respect will be rendered as follows...

Visitation/ Rosary on April 14, 2018 @ 0400 to 0800 pm, Hillcrest Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306

Funeral Mass on April 16, 2018 @ 0930 am, St. Phillip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Reception follows at Chinatown Buffet, 1021 Oak St., Bakersfield, CA 93304 from 1100 am to 0100 pm.
