Ailene Davis DiGirolamo went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2019 after a courageous fight with cancer surrounded by family and friends. Ailene was born on July 31, 1934 in Austell, Georgia to Clarence Crawford and Rosa Lee Davis. Ailene grew up singing southern gospel with her siblings, John Marion Davis and Brenda Davis Barney. She was a choir member and soloist throughout her adult life. She loved the Lord and served Him all her life. She traveled the United States from 1955 to 1972 with her husband Tony as he served in the United States Air Force. She lived in Florida from 1969 to 1988, Houston, Texas 2002-2006 and Cordova, Tennessee 1988-2002, and 2006 to 2019. During these years of travel, in addition to raising a family, Ailene edited and typed all her husband’s Graduate and Doctoral papers. She also worked at Calvary Assembly of God in Ormond Beach, Florida; First Assembly of God in Memphis, Tennessee; and FedEx Express in Memphis, Tennessee. Ailene was an active member at First Assembly of God church, Memphis, Tennessee.
Memorials or in lieu of flowers, honorariums may be given to Chi Alpha Ministries to support her home missionary Granddaughter Christina DiGirolamo through First Assembly of God Church, or First Assembly Christian School, or University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Clinic in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Anton (Tony) DiGirolamo to whom she was married 58 years, her brother John Marion Davis and her sister Patti Davis Jones. She is survived by her four children Debbie DiGirolamo Gatti, Jay (Randy) DiGirolamo, Laura DiGirolamo Teuton, and Brenda DiGirolamo Murphy as well as her sister Brenda Davis Barney. Other surviving family members include her son in-laws: John Gatti, Gary Teuton and Ray Murphy; her daughter in-law: Ellen Vance DiGirolamo; her nine (9) grandchildren Alayna DiGirolamo White, Christina Leigh DiGirolamo, Alexandra (Ali) Rose DiGirolamo, Cole Teuton, Judah Duntsch, Sydney Claire Teuton, Micah Duntsch, and Collins Teuton: and one great grandchild Jeremiah David White; and numerous relatives.
Family will receive friends at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pky. Bartlett, TN 38133, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral is scheduled on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm at First Assembly of God, 8650 Walnut Grove, Cordova, TN 38018 with a visitation from 12:00pm to 1:00 pm.
