Mr. Willie James Herring was born February 28, 1949 to the late Willie L. Herring and Autries Wiggins Herring in Shelby County. He departed his life to be with the Lord on September 19, 2019, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East.
Willie confessed a hope in Christ at a young age at Oak Spring Missionary Baptist Church and later changed his membership to the Church of Christ. Willie was a graduated of Barrett’s Chapel High School where he played football for the Barrett’s Wildcats. He retired from Dupont Chemical Plant after 30 years of dedicated service.
Willie was preceded in death by his sister Lucy (Robert) Howard.
Those left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Annie Louise Herring, his loving and devoted children, Latorry Herring in Millington, TN and Courtney Herring in Millington, TN; three grandchildren, Taylin Herring in Millington, TN, Aneysha Herring and Tyrel Herring, both of Germany; three loving brothers, Robert (Audrey) Herring, Sr. in Hickory Withe, TN; Archie (Ruby) Herring in Eads, TN, and Billy (Deborah) Herring in Memphis, TN; four loving and caring sisters, Annette Coleman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Patsy (Johnny) Rhodes in Lakeland, TN; Debra Macklin of Bartlett, TN; and Kimberly Herring in Memphis, TN; and a host of nephews, nieces, other loving relatives and dear friends, all of whom join the family in sharing the grief caused by his departure, but rejoice for now he is with the Lord.
A gathering of family and friends for Willie will be held Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with a funeral service to follow. The graveside service will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
