Patricia Stephens Fortenberry of Collierville, TN passed away on July 14, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on August 19, 1940 to parents Robert Jesse and Ethel Stephens of Tuscaloosa, Alabama she is preceded in death by them, her daughter Jackie Lynn Fortenberry, a brother Daniel Stephens, and her grandparents Rufus and Emily Stephens; Lee Wilson and Emily Hammonds.
She leaves behind her husband of 61-years Wayne Fortenberry, two sons Tim Fortenberry (Dallas) and Tony Fortenberry (Collierville), two granddaughters Jessica Fortenberry Coopwood (Chris), Kaytlyn Fortenberry of Memphis and great grandchildren Freddie Coopwood and Eliza Jane Coopwood.
Pat was a strong and resilient woman who faced her illness with grace and dignity. Despite the challenges she faced, she fought until the end to live.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She poured her heart and soul into caring for her family and always put their needs above her own. Her love knew no bounds and her presence will be deeply missed.
Pat leaves behind a legacy of love to her friends and family. We take great comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and reunited with those whom she missed.
A private graveside service was held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
