Ruby Alice Keel Reese was born in Memphis, Tennessee on Nov 14, 1933. She had two younger brothers Leon and Raymond. She graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis. As a teen, Ruby attended Highland Heights Baptist Church by herself and during that time committed her life to Christ. Her faith was the most important motivation and comfort in her life.
Ruby married Venable Artis Murphy in June of 1952, and became a mom in September of 1953. She had four children, all of whom became strong followers of Jesus. In November of 1978 she married Tom Reese and they showed us a beautiful example of love and lasting commitment.
Ruby loved to sew and made many clothes and home decorations. She also loved watching, feeding birds and gardening vegetables, especially flowers. She had a green thumb we all envy, loved to play games, such as card games and work jigsaw puzzles.
Throughout the years she spent many hours working with preschoolers at church and ministering to their families. Ruby often offered to babysit for young couples so they could have a date evening or attend a marriage conference.
At age 40, Ruby went back to finish her college degree in Home Economics, and graduated in June of 1976. She always loved learning and sharing information with others and showed her love through acts of service.
Ruby loved her children, adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They all fondly remember spending time cooking and gardening with her.
Even as Parkinson's Disease robbed her of communicating well, her spunky personality and the twinkle in her eye could be seen to the end. Ruby's legacy will live on far beyond her earthly years.
