Gordon E. Voss, 88, of Glasford, Illinois, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 7:35 p.m. at Pekin Manor. He was born October 19, 1929, in Peoria County, IL, to Henry and Flavia (Harris) Voss. He married Arlene R. VanDettum on February 12, 1949, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Glasford. She passed away April 21, 2017 in Peoria.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney M. (Katie) Voss of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and Randy E. (Michele) Voss of Glasford; six grandchildren, Cheryl (Cliff) Bolt, Robert (Jaimie) Voss, Jordon (Jamie) Voss, Jameson (Lacey) Voss, Jon (Claire) Voss and Joanna Voss; thirteen great-grandchildren. He has many loving nieces and nephews surviving.
Gordon retired from Management in the Traffic and Transportation Division at Caterpillar after a long career of 38 years. He served in many capacities on the Glasford Village Board, Church Council, and Boy Scout Committee. He served as the president of the Timber Township School Board that was instrumental in formation of the Illini Bluffs School District. He took pride and satisfaction in his 20 years of service to the Timber-Hollis Fire Department. He and his wife, Arlene, enjoyed wintering in Arizona for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Glasford.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Rural Glasford. Additional visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. before the services at the church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Timber-Hollis Fire Department.
