He was born May 26, 1972 in Peoria, IL to Rex and Deborah (Flesher) Monroe.
He is survived by his mother, Debbie Bowen of Peoria; Fiance', Michelle Miner of Peoria; one son, Dustin Swanson of the Quad Cities; three siblings, Chris (Niki) Monroe of Manito, Misha (Derek) Hunn or Peoria Heights, and Jamie Kerns of Arizona. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, Gerald (Patricia) Nash of Peoria; two aunts, RaNae (Dan) Wright of Cincinnati, OH and Kathy (Bob) Durr of Las Vegas; two uncles, Russell (Janice) Nash of Elmwood and David Flesher of Madison, WI; nieces and nephews, Destenee Hunn, Guage Hunn and Shylo Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, Rex Monroe and Paul Long who raised him, and one brother, Brandon Long.
Rex worked at ADM as a Pipefitter and attended Riverside Community Church in Peoria. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, fixing cars, fishing, hunting, music and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephew. He was known for living on the edge and enjoying life to the fullest. He will be remembered as a free spirit that lived hard, rode hard, and loved hard.
A funeral service will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Riverside Community Church or the Children's Hospital of Illinois.
