She was born on January 16, 1943 in Highland Park to Henry Alvin and Dorothy Josephine (Chaney) Hensley. She married Richard Polhemus on July 1, 1961 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this month.
Sandy is also survived by her children, Dustin Polhemus of Hanna City, Patti (Ron) Mauerman of Tremont, Tammy Polhemus of Brimfield, and Rick (Toni) Polhemus of Normal; grandchildren, Kyle (Jenn) Mauerman of Sunnyland, Laynee Mauerman of Morton, Jordan Jones of Broadman, OH, Dakota Polhemus of Mackinaw, Colton Polhemus of Mackinaw, Sadie Shilling of Brimfield, and Avery Gibson of Normal; great-grandchildren, Grace and Maddison Mauerman, both of Sunnyland; and sister, Judith (Stan) Mandrell of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sandy started her own church, Warriors for Christ International Church, in the basement of her home in 1993. She was the current pastor at Warriors for Christ in Peoria Heights. She also enjoyed traveling.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel at 11:00 AM. Pastor JoAnne Herndon will preside. Visitation will be held one hour before the funeral on Tuesday, and also from 4:00-6:00 PM on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Smithville Cemetery.
