
On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, Barbara Cecile Bourgeois Hart died peacefully, with her family at her side. She was born on May 28, 1942, and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1960 and from LSU in 1963 with a degree in education. On June 29, 1963, she married the love of her life, William Andrew Hart Sr., with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage and raised three beautiful children, Erin, Drew and Suzanne. During her life, she was a founding member of the La Fiesta Dance Club and was a member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the Woman's Club of Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Camellia Society, the Baton Rouge Genealogical&Historical Society, the Harness Club and the Novel Club. She also served on the boards of theSt. JosephCatholicCemetery, the Mid-City Historical Cemeteries Coalition and the BREC Foundation. As a devoted wife and mother, she also enjoyed researching genealogy, traveling with her family, cooking and collecting cookbooks, antiquing and gardening, her favorite pastime. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford Benedict Williams Bourgeois and Valerie E. Bourgeois. She is survived by her husband, William Andrew Hart Sr.; son, William Andrew Hart Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Erin Hart Hewlett and David Hewlett of Austin, Texas, and Suzanne Hart Jarlsjo and Bengt Jarlsjo; six grandchildren, Stephen Hewlett and Whitney Hewlett, both of Austin, Texas, Eleanor Jarlsjo, Michael Jarlsjo, Alexander Jarlsjo and Lilly Jarlsjo; and brother, Gilbert Whitney Bourgeois. Pallbearers will be Robert Comeaux, Norman Ferachi, Michael Frenzel, Thomas Holliday, Dale Hotard, Steven Kennedy, Robert Rome and Jay Triche. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19, from 5 p.m.to 9 p.m.at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerard F. Young on Monday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m.at St. Joseph Cathedral. Interment inMagnoliaCemetery.
