She was a devoted wife of 57 years to James A. “Jimmy” Tubre, Jr., who died on October 21, 2014 while they were living in Carencro, LA. Beloved mother of Steve Christopher Tubre, Michael James Tubre (his wife Michelle Marie Dugas Tubre), and David Augustine Tubre (his wife Tina Marie Moreci Tubre). Grandma to one grandson, Joel Michael Tubre (his wife Scarlett Cox Tubre) and four great-grandchildren, Bree Elizabeth, Zea Marie, Adia Patrice and Jade Scarlett Tubre.
She was also preceded in death by her parents: Gussie Arnaud and Ezola Dugas Arnaud, her brothers: Moise, Felix, Harvey “Pete”, Enia, Nealy, Wilson, Harry, and two baby brothers and her sisters: Shirley and Lillie. She is survived by her sisters: Alzire, Gurcie, and Hilda.
She was very outgoing and outspoken and in her five years or so at St. James made many friends along the way. Her nickname over the years was “Frenchie”, because of her Cajun accent (still could rattle off Cajun French), infectious laugh and her spunky personality. She had a very comfortable apartment on the corner of the building where she could grow plants and keep a little flower bed. She always had a knack for making plants and flowers look beautiful. Fortunately, her love for reading helped her to cope with the isolation she had to endure this past year. She was a frequent visitor to the St. James library shelves, picking up and dropping off books.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church (3625 LA-75, St. Gabriel, LA 70776), on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM followed by a rosary just prior to the Mass. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend her graveside service in Metairie at Garden of Memories Cemetery (4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001) at 2:00 PM where she will be laid to rest next to Jimmy.
