Cassard Moret, age 84, died peacefully in his sleep on March 21, 2018, in Murfreesboro, TN, where he resided for 10 years. Cass was born March 9, 1934, in New Orleans, LA, to his late parents, Lucien and Lillian Moret. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA and received his BS from Loyola and an MS and PhD in chemistry from LSU. His employment included DuPont and Albemarle Corp., from which he retired in 1993 as Director Information Systems for R&D. Cass taught electronics and served as instructor evaluator at the U.S. Army Air Defense School in Ft. Bliss TX. He taught Field Artillery tactics and techniques for most of his reserve duty. He had a major role in establishing the Fourth U.S. Army Reserve Components NCO Academy, serving as commandant of the New Orleans Detachment. He retired from the Army Reserve as a Lt. Colonel in 1994. In Baton Rouge, he was a member of the St. Thomas More Holy Name Society and an usher and lector for over 30 years. He was also a longtime member of the Board of the Broadmoor Residents Association. He is survived by his son, Paul Moret and wife, Glenda Padilla Moret; grandson, Paul Alexander Moret; brother, Vernon Moret, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Catherine Moret, Jerlyn Maus and husband, Gerald; and numerous other family members. Cass is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Janis Cavaliere; brother, Lucien J. (LJ) Moret Jr; and mother-in-law, Adele Kidder Cavaliere and her husband, Isaac Cavaliere. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 9:30AM to 11:.30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be afterwards at 12:00PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Jesuit High School in New Orleans.
