Jacob E. "Jay" Cloessner, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 4, 2021 at the age of 77. Jay will be remembered as always being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had many different interests. He was an inventor with 3 US patents. He was retired from Exxon as a pipefitter. He was truly an outdoorsman, who shared his love of hunting, history, and travel. More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandsons, teaching them to hunt and watching them play sports. Jay is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria Cloessner; children, Jason Cloessner (Amanda) and Amy Cloessner; sisters, Diane Linder and Linda Didier; brother, Charles Cloessner (Kay); grandchildren, Jacob, Evan, and Grant Cloessner; Payton LeBlanc, who he loved like a grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Edward Cloessner Sr. and Hazel Stracener Cloessner; and sister, Jerry Hanks. Pallbearers will be Jacob Cloessner, Evan Cloessner, Grant Cloessner, Payton LeBlanc, Darlene Hargroder, Clint Linder, Chad Didier, Matthew Cloessner, Phil Sorbet, and Chris LeBlanc. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 5:00-7:00 pm. The visitation will continue on Friday, October 8, 2021, starting at 9:00 am, with the funeral service to start at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
