It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Jean Johnson Cangelosi, on Sunday, January 17, 2021. She was 90 years old and one might remark, “Why be sad? She was 90! She lived a full life!” Indeed, she did live a full life. But her departure leaves a void among her family, friends and all who knew her. She was one of the most positive, optimistic and joyful people ever created by God. She saw life with a sense of awe and wonderment, even in her old age. She had the Christian faith of a child; never doubting, never questioning.
A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, mom (or Miss Jean, as many called her) joins her husband in Heaven, Dr. Vincent E. Cangelosi; her father, Robert Eugene Johnson, Sr.; her mother, Phronia Johnson McGee; stepfather, William R. McGee; her two twin brothers, Robert Eugene Johnson, Jr., and Richard Lytal Johnson; and her mother and father-in-law, Angelina and Philip Cangelosi.
On earth, she leaves her five children, Philip William Cangelosi (Jane Smith), Phyllis Cangelosi Pedersen (Gerry), Ann Cangelosi Major (R.L.), Mary Cangelosi Passons (Randy), and Joanie Cangelosi Ragusa (Mark); her nine grandchildren, Melissa Major Terito (Patrick), Megan Major Schram (Garrett), Kyle Major, Todd Pedersen (Kaleigh), Paige Pedersen Muller (Blake), Walker Passons, Chandler Passons, Carlie Vidrine, Emilie Vidrine; her seven great-grandchildren, Major, Garrison, Parker, Palmer, Avery, Chloe, and Jude; and her favorite (and only) sister, Becky McGee Yandell (Harold).
The family extends our gracious thanks to the Lake Sherwood Village staff, Audubon Hospice, and our mother’s caring sitters.
