Salvadore "S.L." Louis Materiste

Salvadore “S.L.” Louis Materiste passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 80. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Prairieville, LA. For 60 years, S.L. owned Highland Shoe and Boot Repair located in Baton Rouge, Donaldsonville, Prairieville and Geismar, and owned a pecan business for 32 years where he bought, cracked and sold. For years, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed meddling with his plants and greenhouses, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. S.L. is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan; children, Tommye Sue Breaux and husband, Lyndon, and William “Blaze” Harrison and wife, Chrissy; grandchildren, Blaze, Alyse, and Parker; niece, Jennifer Richardson; nephew, Scott Cado; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

S.L. is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Jennie Materiste; and siblings, Virginia Cado and husband, John, and Peter Materiste, Jr. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 9am until the funeral service at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Shriners Hospital for Children or Wounded Warriors.
