Mary Lou was born on February 15, 1934 in Pratt, Kansas to Carl and Mammie Iford. She moved to Texas at a young age and graduated from Baytown’s Robert E. Lee High School in 1952. She married John P. Krolczyk, her high school sweetheart, on her birthday in 1952. Over 67 years of marriage, the couple welcomed 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her family remembers her as a loving mother and grandmother who always encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Mary Lou was accomplished at sewing and gardening. She had a special gift for hosting and cooking for events and family. Her home was always open to family and friends for coffee, conversation and a comfortable place to stay. She was a quick-witted individual who loved to read and travel. She was passionate about square dancing and teaching the latest line dances. She and her husband were active and dedicated members of the Bayshore Wagon Wheels and other Houston area square dance clubs for over 40 years.
Mrs. Krolczyk is survived by her husband, John P. Krolczyk of Baytown,TX; her children, Dennis Krolczyk and wife Vickie and daughter Connie Hanson and husband Gary; grandchildren, Carrie Quinn and husband John, Tom Kimmey and wife Wendy, Mikaela Haynes and husband Chris, Christine Willis and husband Jonathan, Grant Hanson, and Graceanne Hanson; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Logan, Lincoln, Cade, Emma, Jaycee, Martin, Bryce, Layla, Brody, and Chloe. She will also leave cherished memories with many other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mammie Iford, and sister Caroline Jane Fullbright.
Visitation with family is scheduled for this Saturday, June 29 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown, TX. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at 2:30 at Memory Gardens Baytown, TX . Grandson Tom Kimmey will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary Lou’s life.
