Mary Beth Osgood
July 9, 1937 – August 30, 2019
Mary Beth Richardson Osgood, of Baytown, Texas, passed away August 30, 2019.She was born in Ruston, Louisiana on July 9, 1937 to Aubrey Lewis Richardson and Mary Lou Best Richardson.
She was married to James R. Osgood, Jr., on June 3, 1955, and for nearly 64 years, Mary Beth was the best wife, mother and grandmother who poured herself into her children and grandchildren, and helping her husband in the family wholesale seafood business.
Her passion was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ always first and foremost, and her children and grandchildren were the absolute most important things to her in life. She was also famous for her delicious cooking and baking skills especially her amazing pies, which were always the ones that disappeared first at church functions and family get-togethers. James’ favorite was her butterscotch and she always had a pie for him fresh from the oven when he came in off the shrimp boat after several days in the Gulf or Trinity Bay. She was so proud of the home that he built for her with his own hands and we challenge anyone to name a time when you walked through her door that it would not be spotless and gleaming from ceiling to floor!
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 64 years, James, and her son, James David Osgood, as well as her parents Aubrey Lewis and Mary Lou, and her beloved grandmother, Elizabeth Best, and a host of precious family members who were waiting at the portals of Heaven for Mary Beth’s arrival, with James being at the front of the line.
She is survived by her son, Nick Osgood, her daughter and son-in-law Carla Osgood Brown and husband Will Brown, her grandchildren Vince Davis and wife Sara, Chad Davis, Summer Fernihough and husband Daniel, Alyssa Osgood Kenney and husband Shane, Katie Osgood, and her great grandchildren, Dylan, Wiley and Jacob Davis, and Abby and Caleb Fernihough, as well as her three brothers, Aubrey Lewis Richardson, Jr., and wife Shirley, Don Richardson, Monte Richardson and wife Sandra, and sister, Carolyn Richardson Stanley. There are so many other extended family members and wonderful friends who loved her dearly and without whom these last two years would have been even more difficult and who will always remain close to our hearts. We share so many beautiful memories with them.
Proverbs 31: 10-12 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
