Milton Frank Kellner passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on October 8, 2019. He was born November 2, 1942 on a Brazos River farm near Orchard, Texas to Frank and Pearl Kellner. He graduated from Orchard High School in 1961 while lettering for 4 years in football, basketball and track and field. He was an All-District performer in football and advanced to the state track meet in shot put and discus.

Milton earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&I University where he lettered in football for two years in 1964 and 1965 earning All-Lone Star Conference honors. While in Kingsville he met Laura Ward and they married after graduation.

They started their teaching and coaching careers in Port Arthur, Texas and then joined the Robert E. Lee Gander coaching family in the fall of 1969. They made their home in Baytown raising two children and being very involved in all of their activities.

Milton was a dedicated Christian and blessed to have been a member of Grace Bible Church in Baytown for 47 years where he served as a Deacon for the congregation.

Milton’s greatest joy was being a husband, father and grandfather as well as coaching the Lee Gander football team to many victories in the 1970s and 80s. He liked watching football games and traveling with family and friends, but his favorite place to be was on the porch of their country home in East Texas. Milton is proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Pearl Kellner and survived by his brother Russell Kellner. He is also survived by his wife Laura of more than 52 years, son Martin Kellner and wife Julie, daughter Leslie McAlee and husband Chris, grandchildren, Emily Kellner, Luke Kellner, Addysen McAlee, Reese McAlee and Grant McAlee.

A visitation will be held Friday from 5pm to 8pm and a funeral service will be Saturday at 10am, both at Navarre Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bibles for Asia Ministry in care of Grace Bible Church, 624 Massey Tompkins Rd., Baytown, Texas 77521.

I will always remember the warmth, kindness and generosity of Milton. He was a great guy and is surely going to be missed. I have fond memories of getting to know Milton back when Martin and I were room mates and in the years after. My sincerest condolences to Laura, Martin, Leslie and the rest of the family. I am sorry that I was not able to be there on Saturday.

This posting is from the Jennings Boys and our sister, Mary. Three of the Jennings Boys have passed away. Curtis Neal, Robert Naurice and Joseph Douglas. All of us played our hearts out for Coach Kellner and the Robert E. Lee Gander football team. Coach Kellner expected nothing less from us. We did not disappoint him. His example of being a man, a coach, and a teacher was not lost on any of us. A tremendous individual and citizen was Coach Kellner.
The deepest sympathy from our family goes to the Kellner family.

Coach Kellner was truly a great man that touched the lives of all students, that he came in touch with. He may have retired, but he was and always will be "Coach Kellner". He loved his God, his family, and friends. Family, friends and fellow former students, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am very thankful for my time with Coach Kellner and the wonderful coaches at Robert E. Lee in the late 70's. At the time, I did not realize how good I had it to be mentored by these coaches. Coach Kellner was a man of God and a wonderful human being. RIP Coach.

He was a neighbor to out sister and brother in law. Always a very a friendly person.
Even though he has been quite sick for quite some time he still did all he could around his home. He seemed to push himself to stay active.
So thankful he has been welcomed to his heavenly home!
May God comfort his family and friends!!

Was one of the best line coaches in the business. It was a great honor to be coached by him as a lineman.

I am sorry to hear of Milton’s passing. I know Mrs. Kellner, Martin and the family will need prayers in the days ahead, and I’ll remember you all when I pray. I met Milton when I visited Grace Bible Church about 5 years ago as I was looking for a place to worship. He met me at the door with a smile and a firm handshake, welcoming me to the service. What a kind and humble man.
