Ygnacio Jimenez

Ygnacio Cortez Jimenez, age 76, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 30, 2023 with his loving wife, Lydia by his side. He was born on April 21, 1946 in Bishop, Texas. Ygnacio was one of fourteen children born to Ygnacio and Josefa Cortez Jimenez.

Ygnacio married Lydia Lerma on August 2, 1969. They had three children: Sandra Lynn, Anselmo (Jim) Ygnacio and Jaqueline. Ygnacio was a retired carpenter. He was always working on a project, whether it was around the house or for his family. He enjoyed woodworking projects and building things with his hands. Ygnacio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. As a father, he taught his children the values of family and how to always love and support each other. No matter the occasion, he always enjoyed spending time with his family. His proudest moments in life came from being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ygnacio was a dependable man of his word who loved to help people any chance he had. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, and his morning bike rides at the park where he would find objects others deemed had no value and turn them into treasures. He loved his family, the Dallas Cowboys, and making tamales at Christmas time. Most of all he loved his wife and family.

Ygnacio is preceded in death by his parents Ygnacio and Josefa Jimenez and his siblings Octavio Jimenez, Elisa Lerma, Guadalupe Castaneda, Olivia Garcia, Dora Perez, Gloria Jimenez, and Janie Guartuche.

He is survived by his lifelong sweetheart, Lydia Lerma Jimenez; daughter Sandra Ortiz and son-in-law, Felix; son, Anselmo Ygnacio and daughter-in-law Lisa; daughter Jaqueline Cardenas and son-in-law Jonathan; grandchildren Matthew Garza, AJ Garza, Bryanna Garza, Anthony Vasquez, Savana Vasquez, Iyanna Vasquez, Joe Cardenas, Jovie Cardenas, Ashleigh Jimenez, Juleigh Jimenez, Morgan Williams, Cari Pagel, and Baylee Brill; his great grandchildren Izayah Garza, Gianna Garza, Elijah Garza, Enzo Garza, Kaylee Zamora, Josiah Zamora, Elias Pineda, Annali Pineda, Connor Williams, Jaxon Williams, Greyson Williams, Gracie Pagel and Nathan Pagel; siblings Irma Rosa, Maria Rodriguez, Rosie Trujillo, Benito Jimenez, and Alfredo Jimenez.

The family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM, at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home with a Burial Service to follow at 11:30 AM at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road, Baytown, Texas 77521. Reception to be held after services at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home.
