Pat was born an only child to Allen Edward Grover and Wilma Irene Boldon. It was a very exciting day for the Grover family. Two babies were born on this day only a few hours apart in the same hospital. First was a little girl named Patricia Lucille Grover and the next child born was a boy named Robert Richard Murphy who was the son of Gabriel Robert Murphy and Pauline Elaine Grover. The very proud grandparents of these little "twin cousins" were John Slater Grover and Lora Hilles Petty. As these two children grew up, they were very close to their grandparents and to each other. Pat's nickname was Tishie and Robert's nickname was Bobby. Tishie and Bobby played together often at Grandma Grover's house in San Gabriel, California. All the Grover cousins were very close through the growing-up years. These included Carol and Clifford Grover, Bernadine, Bob and Marjorie Murphy and Patricia Grover. Grandma Grover's house was the happy place where all the children played together as cousins do. Pat also enjoyed spending time ice skating.
Although born a California native, Pat moved to Texas for a short while with her mother's second husband. They eventually moved back to Southern California where she settled and went to school in Ontario, California. Just after graduating Chaffey High School in 1955, Pat met her husband to be, Robert, at an old fashion car hop. This random meeting, some may call it fate, would forever change her life.
Pat and Bob fell in love and sneaked off to Las Vegas to marry. They were married at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather Wedding Chapel. They lived apart for a couple of months before they told their families. Pat and Bob were married for 55 years.
Pat's family was her life. She always knew she wanted to have children. She and Bob were blessed with four children, two daughters, Dani and Jennifer and two sons, Robert, Jr and William. They were also blessed with nine grandchildren, Robert, III, Ashley, Baileigh, Reilly, Madison, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Stephanie and John and two great grandchildren, Daylen and Alyssah. And we must not forget the Granddogs, Misha, Tasha, Tucker, Zoe, Max, Gizmo, Teddy, Maggie and Cody! While raising her young ones, Pat worked outside the home at the Ontario Airport as a tour guide. This job fit her personality perfectly. She also was an Office Supervisor for the County of San Diego for 15 years.
Pat was an outgoing and gregarious person, meeting people wherever she went. She had a big heart and a very open mind. She had a zest for learning and a boundless curiosity for everything-people, places and things. She accepted people for who they were, not for what she wanted them to be. Pat loved reading, writing and history. She especially enjoyed reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.
Pat's new life involved relocating to Sun Lakes Country Club in Banning, California when she retired in 2001. In retirement, she found new pleasure in playing Bunco with the girls and sitting out front with Bob in the courtyard in the evenings talking to friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed entertaining all their newfound friends. Even in retirement, Pat continued to stay in touch with all her old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. She was active in her new community and felt fulfilled. Pat joined the Red Hat Society, Pageturner's Book Club, the Happy Cooker's Club and the Sun Lakes Garden Club. She enjoyed going on excursions and short trips with her friends.
Pat fought a 13 year brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her four children; Dani Lynn, Jennifer (Lance), Robert, Jr and William (Susan); her grandchildren, Robert, III (Ashley), Ashley, Baileigh, Reilly, Madison, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Stephanie and John (Trisha) and her great grandchildren, Daylen and Alyssah.

Pat will be cremated and her cremated remains will be spread at sea near the tip of Pt. Loma in San Diego.
