Dorothy was born on May 17, 1927 in Heidenheimer, Texas to her parents Joseph Craig and Arrie Leigh Morton who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Albert Allison Timberlake, Jr., four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her loving children: son, Glenn Timberlake and wife Dianne; daughter, Kay Timberlake-Houston; daughter, Jan Benton and husband Jack; son, John Timberlake and wife Kim. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren whom she loved very much.
Dorothy was the youngest daughter of a share-cropper and a hard-working mother. She met our dad when he was in the Air Force and she was the Chaplain’s secretary needing a ride home for Christmas. Five months later they were married.
Our mother and dad changed the course of their lives and in doing so gave us, their children, the greatest inheritance of all-they taught us about God’s Son, Jesus. They not only spoke about Him, but acted upon their faith. We prayed together as a family, my mother taught Sunday School, she was dedicated as a Deacon’s wife, she went on mission trips, she taught Vacation Bible School, she visited those in the hospital and those who were homebound, and she was a witness to others through her words, action, and deeds. Our mother was truly a “Woman of noble character.” Our mother’s memory and witness will live on, not just with her children, but with her children’s children and beyond. She is now as Psalm 23:6 says “dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.”
Until we meet again…
