Mollie Ann Williams was born to Richard and Viola Williams Aug. 18, 1942. They were living in Sacramento, Calif. Her father was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps. The family moved to Roswell, N.M., where her father was a flight instructor training young men for combat missions overseas. Her sister Susan was born there. In 1945, her father left the military and the family moved to Beaverton, Ore., where they built a house on Fir Grove Lane.
Mollie attended C.E. Mason Elementary School, Merle Davies and graduated from Beaverton High School in 1960. She was very popular in school and in high school, she sang with a special girls' singing group and was part of a winning girls' relay team in the Junior Olympics.
Mollie married and her daughter Maggie Sowles was born in July of 1961 and her son Matthew Belmore was born In August of 1964. They lived in the Washington County area and Mollie worked at Tektronics and Electro Scientific Industries in electronic manufacturing and trouble shooting. She married Gary Liedtke in 1987 who she was friends with at Beaverton High School. They lived happily together for 32 years maintaining a lovely family home. Mollie left ESI around 1999 to pursue artistic, family and travel interests.
Mollie was an accomplished calligrapher and also painted what is called paste grain paper. She made beautiful painted papers and used them for covers on journals that she made. She sold them at a number of shops in the Portland area and at the coast. Mollie was a devoted friend of Bill W. and his fellowship for over 38 years.
Mollie had a stroke in 2008 and after 11 years of fortitude passed away from complications from the stroke and Parkinsons surrounded by her loving family.
Mollie is survived by her husband, Gary; daughter, Maggie Peyton; son, Matthew Belmore; stepdaughter, Amy Loy; grandsons, Bruin Peyton and John Loy; granddaughter, Anna Loy; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Lux Peyton; and her sister, Susan Gardner and her family. All of us cherish Mollie.
