Peter Moulton Finau,64, of Nukunuku, Tongatapu, passed away on October 2nd in Beaverton, Oregon.

Family viewing will be held at 10 am-12:30 pm, October 9th, at Pegg, Paxsonn and Springer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeremy officiating of Tigard United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Crescent Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are done by Pegg, Paxson,and Springer Funeral Home.

Peter Moulton Finau was born in Strathfield, Sydney, Australia to Samuela Lupeti Finau and Mele Latai Moungaloa Finau on April 17,1956. He married Salote Fusitu’a on December 20th, 1984 in Nukunuku, Tongatapu. He attended Leipua Elementary and graduated from Tupou High School and Tupou College Toloa. He worked as a Machinist for Leupold and Stevens for 28 years. His life’s work was Tigard United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader as well as the Choir Director for the Tongan congregation. Peter was a standout athlete; he proudly represented The Kingdom of Tonga playing for both the Rugby and Soccer National Teams. In 2016 Peter lived out his dream returning home with his loving wife Salote to his family home Tauta’ehoko Nukunuku. To to be with his Brother and his family. To preach at the Free Wesleyan Nukunuku Lotokolo Church. Peter was proud supporter of his hometown club Nukunuku Rugby Team.

Peter Moulton Finau is preceded in death by Lavinia Finau Tupetaiki, Faleaka Finau Taumoepeau, and Falanisese Finau.

Peter Moulton Finau is survived by his wife Salote Finau, children Mele Lata’i Falesiu Finau Pekipaki and Malakai Pekipaki, Sitiveni 'Uhi O Loto Hule Finau and Lauren Chun. The surviving brothers and sisters are Sitiveni Takaetalil Finau, Tevita Finau, and Tongiaepau Finau Nuku. Grandchildren Mele Sesimani Kamalei Finau and Nathan Kamipeli Pekipaki.

The Finau family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Davis and the Oncology Cancer Team at OHSU EmpRes Rehabilitation Services, Care Partners Hospice, our loving Congregation at Tigard United Methodist church, The Finau Family, Fusitu’a and Kuita Family, as well as our extended Family near and abroad who have carried us in light , love and prayer.
