Paul was a veteran of the United States Army having been stationed in Germany. He had a passion for fishing and playing poker and worked as a coal miner for Westmorland Coal Company for 20 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Peggy DeHart; and brothers, Emory Thornquest, John Thornquest and Donald Thornquest.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gill Thornquest; daughters, Cynthia Marie Robinson and companion, Ray Bennett, Patricia Lynn Thornquest, and Paula Sue Johnson and husband, James; son, Vincent Paul Thornquest and companion, Missy White; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara Williams and husband, Jack, Judith Thornquest and Sherry Shockney; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
