In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Davis. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Lenora Jean Randolph Davis; daughter, Ruthie Gray and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Taryn Thompson and her husband, Andrew, Nolan Gray and his wife, Sara, Hayley Carpenter and her husband, William, and Kylie Gray; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Thompson and Harper Thompson; niece, Niki Randolph, and nephew, Rod Randolph.
Pastor Davis was a graduate from Beckley College with a degree in Bookkeeping and from Appalachian Bible College with a B.A. in Pastoral Studies. He served as Pastor at Woodland Union Church in Fincastle, VA for three years and as Pastor at Maple Valley Baptist Church in Maple Fork, WV for 14 years. Pastor Davis worked in the Business Office at Appalachian Bible College for five years and was the former Bookkeeper at White Oak PSD.
Steve, affectionately called “Doy” and “Granddaddy” by close family members, possessed a dry wit and uncanny wisdom. He loved to garden, study Scripture, enjoy a hearty laugh, and spend time with his family. On many occasions, he enjoyed toting grandkids around the farmhouse in his refurbished childhood wagon. His vast knowledge and practical application of Scripture became a tangible resource and influence, both in his official pastoring career and beyond. He mentored laymen, pastors, and missionaries, resulting in acceptance of the Gospel by many souls around the world. His humble manner inspired all who knew him, especially in declining health of later years. He was dearly loved, and will be sorely missed by friends and family.
