On March 19, 2018, Aspassia “Skippie” Helen (née Babacas) Callas; beloved wife of the late James N. Callas, dear mother of Nicholas Callas and his wife Marlene; Adora Callas and her husband Christopher Keele, Christina Callas and her husband Robert Flintoft; devoted grandmother of Jennie and Christopher Callas, Theona Griffin, and James Reynen; great-grandmother of Aria and Ella Griffin, Nyssa Callas, and Angel and Aided Munos. She was predeceased by son Peter, sister FoFo, and brother Socrates. She was a pre-school and kindergarten educator for many years. An avid bridge player, she earned the rank of life master and served as a president of the Maryland Bridge Association. She directed the Wednesday and Friday Bel Air bridge games for many years; she also taught bridge to aspiring players. Throughout her life she was active in politics; she met presidents Calvin Coolidge, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. Her other passions included playing the piano and oil painting. Most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on a date to be determined.
