Rolan J. Isbell, 91, died August 13, 2018 in Houston, Texas. He was born in Bedias, Texas on August 8, 1927. He was a resident of Houston since 1965 and a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rolan served in the Merchant Marines and the Army Air Force during WWII from 1944 to 1947. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 39 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and worked many years with a group of volunteers repairing “Talking Book Machines” used by visually impaired people.
Rolan is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Terri Hamilton and husband Randy, son Scott and wife Sandy, son Tom and wife Mary, brother Bobby and wife Doris, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00pm-8:00pm Friday, August 17 at the Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet, Bellaire. Funeral Service will be at 10:30am Saturday, August 18 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Havard officiating. Private interment will follow for the family.
