

In loving memory, Yetta Trifon Markewich passed on Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Houston, Texas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand & great grandmother in every sense. Those of us fortunate enough to have known Yetta say she was a beautiful, kind, lovely person and full of grace. She also had a genuine “joie de vivre” or zest for living, truly, a one of a kind lady and she will be sadly missed by all. She was our “Rock”.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Louis Markewich, her cherished granddaughter, Lauren Lipkin Orton, and devoted siblings Sam Trifon, Morris Trifon and Sadie Leder.
She is survived by her loving children Roslyn Zieben Kenney and husband Pat, Amy Zieben Grenader and husband Aron, and Alan Zieben. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Allyson Lipkin and husband David Kitching, Michael Lipkin and wife Kelly, Michael Grenader and Drew Grenader and great granddaughter, Lauren Olivia Lipkin. Additionally she is survived by her loving nephews, Ivan Trifon, Irvin Leder, David Trifon, and nieces, Elenor Kovachevich, and Linda Levy. Her family wants to acknowledge lifelong, loving friends Ann and Tommy Levin and Anna Lou Stevenson.
Yetta was born to parents Max and Annie Trifon on February 13, 1924 in Galveston, TX, the youngest of four siblings born in Russia. She attended San Jacinto High School before becoming a wife and mother. Following her first marriage to Herbert Zieben, she worked in retail and in the 1960's she met and married, Louis Markewich. In the 1980's she opened Quaint Corner Gifts & Antiques where she was able to use her design talents.
Funeral services will be at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery Post Oak on Friday morning 9/9/2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Scoliosis Foundation.
